Sitting in my lobby the other morning, early, before anyone else came in, enjoying the quiet and admiring the beautiful artwork recently painted on the wall, a sense of well-being settled over me and the entire world seemed right!
From there it was an easy transition to “I’m doing what I love” and “Dang I love these boots!” Of course the next Segway was “I wonder if boots and real estate have anything in common?” That opened up the flood gates of comparisons.
I have many boots and I love them all; high-heeled, fancy, rugged, flat, brown, gray, black, thigh-hi, regular, booties, old, new, cowboy, tapas (those are a story for another time) and so on. Each pair has a history, a story. Each pair complements an outfit; some are out-right comfortable, others make me feel confident.
So, what does all that have to do with real estate? Funny you should ask!
Every client with whom I (or my team) interact is looking to buy or sell a pair of boots – I mean a home. Homes are reflections of us, they depict our souls, and they can define us. Each home is unique; each has its own story…. Are you seeing the similarities?
It’s not mind blowing or earth shattering but it is what I love. I enjoy finding the right fit and the right feel. I like helping folks feel confident and comfortable. I adore being part of their story – their history, and I love the diversity of not only the people but the houses. I like knowing that our clients are sitting in their homes, looking around, sipping a cup of coffee on a cold winter morning, and thinking, “Dang I love this house!” That they are comfortable, content, building history and memories. That their home “fits” them like a well-worn boot.
In the words of the French philosopher Michel de Montaigne, “One must always have one’s boots on and be ready to go.” So, are you ready? Ready to sell, ready to buy? Then come on, ‘cause these boots are made for selling!
